Foster for SCR
We are excited that you may be interested in fostering one of our rescue dogs. Fostering can be a very rewarding experience for both you, your family and the dog/puppy. SCR will provide complete training and will provide all support for the animal you are fostering. Below are some of the requirements for fostering our rescues.
-
Foster must be kept either indoors or in a kennel that is size appropriate for the dog/puppy.
-
Kennels must be kept clean and have a doghouse large enough for the dog/puppy to easily get in and out of.
-
Kennels must be kept as dry as possible. We have found that metal roofing provides the best protection from rain and snow.
-
Straw or wood chips must be placed in the dog houses.
-
Foster must be provided food and water at all times. SCR believes in the ability for the dog/puppy to eat when they are hungry. This helps prevent food aggression.
-
Wormer and other medications must be given on the prescribed schedule. Foster parents are to inform SCR when they need such supplies.
-
Vaccinations must be given on schedule. If you feel comfortable with giving shots we are happy to train you to do so. Otherwise a SCR representative will come by and do the vaccinations for you.
-
Medical records are to be filled out as vaccinations and medicines are given. Do not wait till they have been adopted and then rush to get it done.
-
You may elect to take your foster to transport yourself. However, should you need someone to take them for you please contact SCR far enough in advance to arrange it. If you take your foster to transport yourself you will need to make sure that all paperwork is included in the folder (Health Certificate, Rabies Tag & Certificate (if 12 weeks or older), Spay/Neuter Certificate, Medical Records for Transport sheet, instructions for any medications and any other information
needed).
-
Fosters are limited to one adult or 2 puppies per household. This insures that the foster pet is given adequate attention and care (see our About Us page for more details).

FOSTERS MOTTO
Taking care of Rescue dogs is something I do best, I know because I've done it and I've surely passed the test. The dogs I've bathed, the food I've fed, the vacuming I've done, and all to watch a frightened soul sit dreaming in the sun. My own dogs I've neglected, but I tell them every day, that I love and cherish each of them, though a new dog comes to stay. I know they understand this, for in their eyes I see, the love that I have given them, come shining back at me. Some people think I'm crazy, some others think I'm great, but very few can understand what really is at stake. If I can love and help a dog to find a better way, my own life is much richer, I look forward to each day. So now you know my secret, it's there for all to see, the love I give, the life I save, I do it all for ME...Author Unknown
